Coronavirus: Find our Covid-19 information and updates
Our Council of Governors acts as a link between service users, carers, staff, the general public and the Trust's Board of Directors.
They support the Board of Directors in setting the long-term vision for our organisation, and hold the non-executive directors to account for the actions of the Board. Our Board of Directors has a duty to consult, and listen to the views of, the Council of Governors.
As a Governor I promise to put the needs of the service user at the forefront of all I am asked to do.
I started using SLAM Services in 1992 and even as a service user was employed by SLAM as a clinical secretary in Older Adults for 7 or so years, so I know what it is like to be on both sides of the fence. I now work for SLAM in a voluntary capacity doing telephone befriending.
I am passionate about mental health care and that the service provided lives up to its name.
I have received both inpatient and outpatient care from SLAM and am also able to compare it with services offered elsewhere which in the main do not compare to the high standards received from SLAM but there is always room for improvement and as a Governor I have a lot to offer service users.
I have worked in the commercial world prior to my joining SLAM in 2001 and my last position was as a sales executive with Thomson Local Directories and prior to that with The Telegraph. I can offer commercial experience also.
