We offer assessment and treatment for children aged between four and 12 years old, who have a wide range of severe emotional or behavioural disorders

This includes neurodevelopmental disorders and very early-onset psychosis. We adopt a flexible model, allowing us to accept emergency admissions.

Our unit works closely with families to understand their child's needs, the impact of the child on other family members, and of the family on the child.

Treatment at Acorn Lodge is based around a weekly, five-day model, allowing the child to spend the weekend at home, if possible. In some cases, children require a seven-day provision at certain stages during their admission to enhance their recovery. We believe this flexible model is very important for both the child and the family to help minimise the time away from home, and also to try interventions within a community setting.

Our staff are from a variety of specialised backgrounds, including child psychiatry, clinical psychology, nursing, social work and occupational therapy. Education is provided on site by specialist teaching staff at the Bethlem Royal Hospital school.

We also provide a range of treatment options specified by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). These include management of pharmacological treatments, often in shared care arrangements with local services.

The Adolescent At-Risk & Forensic Service (AAFS) is a flexible and responsive service offering evidence-based assessment, consultation and treatment for young people who are engaged in, or present significant risk of offending behaviour. This can include, but is not limited to, serious violence, fire-setting, and sexually harmful behaviour.

Young people who present significant risk of harm to self are also seen. For example, those exposed to harm through risk-taking behaviour or exploitation. Many of our clients will present with emerging personality and/or neurodevelopmental disorders.

We often treat young people who have exhausted the resources of their local CAMHS and still need assistance. We accept referrals from within the Trust, Greater London boroughs and nationally.

The National adult ADHD and ASD Psychology Service is an outpatient team based at the Maudsley Hospital.

The team is part of the Trust's specialist adult neurodevelopmental pathways which includes the National Autism Unit and the Autism Assessment and Behavioural Genetics Clinic, who have over 20 years of experience in the development and delivery of diagnostic assessments and specially adapted interventions/therapies for adults on the autism spectrum. The team is made up of Clinical Psychologists and specialist Cognitive Behavioural Therapists.

Over the years the team have developed specialist skills in adapting psychological interventions to work with adults with autism and ADHD, who may also have additional mental health difficulties. The team offer assessment, formulation and person centred interventions, primarily time limited individual therapy. A group option is also available to enhance self-management of difficulties associated with ADHD. For people with complex presenting problems, the service may offer psychological assessment and recommendations for appropriate input.

The Croydon Adult Personality Disorder Service is a specialist multidisciplinary psychotherapy service providing psychotherapeutic treatment for people with moderate to severe personality disorder across Tiers 1-3 of the mental health services in Croydon.

We provide consultation, assessment and treatment programme, for patients presenting with emotionally unstable personality disorder (and other associated personality difficulties). The Tier 3 day hospital service is aimed at people who have frequent service contacts, previous unsuccessful treatment of their condition and need a high level of psychiatric and psychotherapy intervention.

To reach this patient group we in-reach to the Croydon inpatient wards to offer consultation, assessment and a pathway to accessing psychotherapeutic treatment for those it would benefit. We aim to help reduce the length of stay in hospital for those who are willing to engage in therapy. For people whose level of risk is too high for a community treatment we can complete assessments to screen for suitability for a Tier 4 personality disorder inpatient treatment.

For these patients we work towards providing an alternative to hospital admission. We can also care co-ordinate the patients in the tier 3 service and specifically focus on supporting the safe transition between services.

In addition, we offer tier 2 level treatments including an intensive outpatient programme and a lower intensity outpatient treatment as well as an open access community based group known as the Sun Project (tier 1).

The Sun Project, (a self-referral, crisis and coping skills group) in central Croydon provides a service that is readily accessible to those previously excluded from psychiatric services or conventional out-patient psychotherapy.

All tiers of our service aim to help people build a life worth living, promote recovery, improve social and interpersonal functioning, and increase the appropriate use of other statutory and voluntary sector services.

Our service provides specialist assessment and treatment for complicated or resistant mood disorders like depression, bipolar disorder and emotional disorders such as borderline personality disorder.

Our service is designed specifically for people who require Step (or Tier) 4 care and we have an impressive record in successfully treating people whose previous care in secondary and tertiary services has failed to achieve improvement in functioning or reduction in symptoms. We provide a comprehensive 26 week treatment programme to optimise patient, referrer and commissioner outcomes. We also offer a service for healthcare professionals with mood disorders who cannot be treated in their local area for reasons of confidentiality.

ART provides nursing, residential and specialist care placements for people, aged 18-65, who have recently moved to independent living.

We provide care co-ordination, specialist assessment and rehabilitation services for people who live in the Borough of Lambeth. Where necessary we also provide clinical care for non-Lambeth residents who have been placed within the borough, as well as social care for people who have moved to more independent, out of borough placements.

Our team includes health and social care professions, including nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, support workers and psychiatrists.

We promote the recovery of people who require care and support in a residential setting.

We are a community-based assessment, treatment and advice service for people in the South Asian community, aged 18-65, who have a range of mental health and complex social care problems. We care for people living in the London Borough of Lambeth.

Our aim is to provide care for people in the South Asian community who, for cultural or language reasons are unable, or who refuse, to use sector-based mental health services.

Our adult community mental health team (CMHT) offers a range of culturally inclusive care and treatment services, and we are able to communicate in Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu as well as English.

We aim to offer high quality CBT aimed at reducing symptoms of anxiety disorder and improve functioning and quality of life. This would lead to reduced need for local service provision.

The advantages of admission to a residential setting are the ability to deliver CBT in a more intensive format. Staff or residents may assist in frequent exposure or behavioural experiments in a supportive environment. There are more opportunities for modelling and positive reinforcement by others in the moment. There is increased flexibility in delivery of the therapy that can keep the momentum going. Sometimes there are advantages to removing a person from their home context.

We integrate occupational therapy into the therapy. Living in a residential unit increases responsibility that may not occur on an inpatient unit with nursing staff as well as the support and reinforcement from other residents. Lastly the unit can monitor any medication changes or adherence.

For patients with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), we operate at the highest level of stepped care in the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines. We do this by providing intensive CBT for the treatment of severe OCD and BDD.

For patients with other anxiety disorders (post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social phobia, agoraphobia/panic, specific phobias, generalised anxiety disorder) the service also operates at the highest level of stepped care in the respective NICE guidelines. We do this by providing intensive CBT and optimisation of medication for the relevant anxiety disorder. The service is for those who have severe symptoms and who have failed treatment locally.

The Assessment and Liaison Service is for Lewisham residents with mental health problems or residents from neighbouring boroughs who are registered with a Lewisham GP.

The service works to each of Lewisham's four GP neighbourhoods, and assesses people who are referred according to the following timescales:

- within 24 hours - for urgent referrals
- within 7 days - for priority referrals
- within 28 days - for routine referrals

The service accepts referrals from GP's, primary care and social care colleagues. It does not accept self-referrals

The Service provides expert advice and consultation to help primary and adult social care colleagues look after patients, where possible, without the need for a secondary mental health service.

Where a secondary service may be indicated, a member of the multidisciplinary team will see the patient within the relevant timescale and provide the referrer with a comprehensive psychosocial assessment and formulation in keeping with NICE guidelines and Trust and Local Authority policy.

Current criteria for referral are:

- NICE guidelines for treatment in primary care have already been applied
- there is a significant mood, anxiety or personality problem
- there is a moderate or serious risk of harm to self or others
- the primary problem is not one of harmful use of alcohol or drugs
- there may be a psychotic disorder which can't be managed in primary care.

Examples of possible outcomes are as follows:

- discharge back to primary care with detailed advice and guidance about treatment
- referral onwards to other secondary or more specialist service
- signposting to more appropriate services or agencies in the community
- up to 12 weeks treatment and support provided in accordance with NICE guidelines.
