Southwark CAMHS Family Early Help Service
The Southwark CAMHS Family Early Help Serviceis part of Southwark Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). We offer short-term help for children and young people, age of 18 years old, who live in the London borough of Southwark.
We offer advice, consultation, assessment and treatment for children and young people with mental health difficulties and disorders. We can offer up to 12 therapy sessions, and work with children and families to set goals and will regularly review their progress.
Our team provides a safe, effective, responsive service where staff involve and treat children, young people and their families with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.
Services we offer include:- Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Adolescents (IPT-A), and for PTSD
- Family Based Interpersonal Psychotherapy (FB IPT)
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
- Systemic Family Practice (SFP)
- Solution Focused Therapy
- Mentalisation Based Treatment for Adolescents (MBT-A)
- Parent training (group and individual)
- Psycho-education, and mindfulness interventions
Our team members
The Family Early Help CAMHS team is made up of a range of experienced clinicians from different backgrounds. This may include social workers, nurses, art therapists, psychotherapists, counsellors, and clinical psychologists.
All of our clinicians are trained and fully embedded in Southwark Council's ÔFamilies Matter' approach.

Southwark CAMHS Liaison Service
The Southwark CAMHS Liaison Service works with children and young people, up to the age of 18, who present at Kings College Hospital in crisis. We also offer follow up appointments in the communityafter discharge from hospital.
Our team is primarily based within the Accident and Emergency (A&E) department at Kings College Hospital. When children and young people come to see us we will assess them in A&E.
If it is appropriate for the young person to be discharged from the hospital, we will arrange for them to be followed up in the community. We can provide up to four additional appointments. If longer term treatment is needed, we will refer them to another CAMHS team.
Our team also manages duty calls for urgent referrals. We can offer help for someone that is already being seen by a CAMHS service, depending on their needs. In some cases, we can offer an appointment on the same day so that the child or young person does not need to attend A&E.Address: Child and Adolescent Paediatric Liaison Service

Southwark CAMHS Outreach Team
Southwark CAMHS Outreach Teamis part of Southwark Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). We are a specialist team for adolescents in Southwark between the ages of 13 to 18 years. Our aim is to reduce the number of times young people in crisis visit A&E, and to provide help before they experience a crisis that might lead to an A&E visit, or hospital admission.
We work with young people that have severe, persistent and complex needs that affect their daily life.We aim to intervene and support young people and their families before they reach a crisis point.
Our team works in partnership with a young person's CAMHS team to provide timely interventions. We can help to engage with young people that may previously have been hard to reach by providing intensive support in the community.
Stepped care
Our team uses a stepped care model. Stepped care means that the level of help provided depends on how severe a young person's issues are.
If a young person's symptoms get worse, we will offer them additional help; this is called Ôstepping up'. As things improve we will see whether it's appropriate to Ôstep down'. This means that we will offer lower intensity treatment such as workshops, groups, and guided self-help.Address: Mapother House

Southwark Child and Adolescent Carelink Service
This service is part of Southwark Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). We offer help to children and young people, up to the age of 18, who are in the care of Southwark local authority.
We provide a service for children and young people under the care of Southwark local authority. If a young person is placed outside of the borough by Southwark we can also provide assessment and treatment of their mental health and emotional wellbeing needs.
Our team works closely with Southwark Children's Social Care. Referrals can be made to our team from the child or young person's social worker. We will also accept referrals from other health and social care professionals.
We are unable to see children who are not expected to remain looked after long term, or those who are in care under a Special Guardianship Order (SGO). Children and young people in short term care, or on an SGO may be referred to another community CAMHS team.Address: First Floor

Southwark Child and Adolescent Neurodevelopmental Service
The Southwark Child and Adolescent Neurodevelopmental Serviceis part of Southwark child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). We provide assessment and treatment for children and young people, up to the age of 18, who have a severe developmental disability and complex mental health problems.
We provide care for children and young people whose complex needs cannot be met in mainstream CAMHS. The issues we most frequently provide help with include autistic spectrum disorders (ASD), attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and mood disorders.
We provide a range of treatments and care, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), parenting support, and group work for parents, children and siblings.
CBT is a talking treatment that can help people overcome upsetting and unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving. It helps people to be clearer about these patterns and helps to work out a way of changing them.

Southwark Child and Family Service
Southwark Child and Family Service offers specialist assessment and treatment to children and young people, up to 12 years old, who have complex mental health problems. Our service also includes the Hope Project; a mini-team for children and young people, up to 18 years old, who have been affected by trauma.
We accept referrals from GPs, health professionals, social workers, school staff, the voluntary sector, and self-referrals from families. The children and young people that are referred to us must be registered with a Southwark GP.
We work with children, young people and their families to help them gain a better understanding of their issues, and the type of intervention that may help before agreeing a care plan.
At times we may need to work with other agencies if the difficulties faced by a family are quite complex. We will usually work with the referrer, and other agencies to work out how CAMHS can help.

Southwark Community Forensic Mental Health Team: Forensic Services
Southwark Community Forensic Team based at Landor House, Lambeth Hospital who care for people who have a permanent address in the London Borough of Southwark and provide community-based assessment, treatment and care for people, aged 18-65.
A Forensic community team provide care for people with offending histories who, with appropriate care and treatment, pose a low risk to the public. They may also be subject to Home Office restrictions, Probation Orders or have judicial proceedings outstanding.
The team is made up of psychiatrists, community psychiatric nurses, social workers Psychologists and occupational therapists.
Who work closely with the police, the public protection unit and the local Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangement (MAPPA) team to support people in the community

Southwark Parental Mental Health Team
The Southwark Parental Mental Health Team is part of Southwark Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). We work with families who have children under five years old where there is some form of mental distress being experienced by one or both parents.
We work in partnership with adult mental health services, CAMHS, social care, Children's Centres, and other health and social care providers.
How we can help
We work with families to help parents access mental health services, if needed, and also services within Children's Centres.
We help parents where there are issues at home relating to bonding and attachment, mental health and the impact upon the family, relationships, and social isolation.
If required, we can also help with practical concerns such as vocational training, housing, immigration and finance, and signposting to other services.
Help and advice for professionals
We provide advice and consultation to Children's Centre Staff if there are concerns regarding a parent's mental health. Out team also offer training to Children's Centre staff on the subject of mental health awareness.

Southwark Team for Early Psychosis (STEP)
The Early Intervention Team supports people, aged 18-65, when they first begin to develop the symptoms of mental illness and before they reach 'crisis point'. We provide assistance to people who live in the London Borough of Southwark.
Our team includes health and social care professionals. We work with people to help manage their mental illness, encourage independent living and maintain their health. We aim to offer recovery for the long term.We aim to see most people in their own homes, in the community, or at their local community mental health team (CMHT) base.We provide between two and three year treatment programmes, co-ordinated by a designated support worker.Address: STEP Team

Spring Ward: Forensic Services
Spring Ward is a forensic service in River House Medium Secure Unit at Bethlem Royal Hospital. We provide assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and care for women, aged over 18, who have a range of mental health problems.
We provide care for people who live in the London Boroughs of Southwark, Lambeth and Croydon.
A Medium Secure Service provides inpatient care and treatment in a secure unit for people with offending behaviour.
Treatment includes medication and psychological therapy. We provide therapeutic groups, including sport, arts, education, music and cooking.
The average length of stay at the unit is 12 to 18 months.

St Thomas MHLT Liaison Team
We are a team of mental health professionals based at St Thomas' Hospital Accident and Emergency (A&E) Department. We assess people to determine if they need mental health care and treatment, and refer them to clinical services. We provide care for patients of St Thomas' Hospital.
As well as assessing and treating people who self-harm, we provide a 24 hour service to manage all psychiatric emergencies in A&E and inpatient wards. We also assess and treat those medical and surgical patients who have mental illnesses.
We work closely with community-based mental health and substance misuse services, the police, and local statutory and voluntary agencies to provide mental health care and treatment. This includes crisis care and brief therapy.

Staying Well Service (Southwark)
The Staying Well Service offers time limited support for Southwark adult service users making the transition from community mental health services to GP based care in Southwark. Ideally, service users will have achieved a six month period of stability in clinical symptoms during his/her recovery pathway and are motivated to increase self management stills and independence by working collaboratively with a Staying Well Practitioner to develop a Staying Well, Recovery and Crisis Plan.
The Staying Well Practitioners use mental health recovery principles to guide the mental health care and support offered to service users. The service aims to actively involve family members, carers, friends, supportive organisations and primary care staff in the development of the Staying Well, Recovery and Crisis Plan which is a self management tool to assist service users to maintain his/her wellbeing after leaving secondary mental health services and provide guidance in the event of mental ill-health, distress or crisis in the future. Supported Living Service (Southwark)
The Supported Living Team provides a community mental health service to people who live in a variety of low and medium supported housing projects in Southwark.
Our aim is to promote the recovery of residents, helping them stabilise their health and maximise their use of the support available so that they can move towards independent living.
To do this we provide psychological, social, vocational and medical interventions to residents to support their recovery. We also support housing providers to maximise the quality of care and rehabilitation provided to their residents. We provide a flexible outreach service to the housing projects adapting to the needs of the staff and their residents. This includes regular drop in sessions, link working, and attending residents or staff meetings as required.

Thames Ward: Forensic Services
Thames Ward is a medium secure, forensic acute admission ward in River House, at Bethlem Royal Hospital. Thames ward is where everyone is first admitted to at River House to determine what treatment and care they need within the unit.
As well as providing an in-house assessment and referral service, we provide inpatient care and treatment for men, aged 18-65, who have mental health problems and a history of offending behaviour, and who are acutely unwell or have challenging behaviour. Acute illnesses start quickly and have distressing symptoms.
We provide nurse-led group therapies and a designated, named worker, who co-ordinates the care of each person. Our health and social care professionals work with people, their families and carers, to develop care plans to help prevent relapses, and to help identify early warning signs, so that they know how to get help in a crisis.

The Symbol Therapy Team for Looked After and Adopted Children and Young People
Our service was set up to help young people in the care of the local authority in Lewisham who are struggling with mental health difficulties, as well as adopted young people living in Lewisham.
The Symbol Therapy Team is part of Lewisham Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). We offer assessment, therapeutic intervention and care for looked after and adopted children and young people, up to the age of 18, with moderate to severe emotional, behavioural and mental health problems.
This means that we see young people who are struggling with significant anxiety, depression, challenging behaviour and other mental health problems.
We are a Tier 3 CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service). This means that children and young people who have had severe and complex mental health problems for some time can be cared for by our team of mental health workers.
