The R&D Team provides guidance and support to researchers wishing to undertake projects within the Trust. The team ensures that all non-commercial research taking place in South London and Maudsley meets all necessary ethical, contractual and regulatory standards before it can begin.

The King's Clinical Trials Unit collaborates on academic led clinical trials, providing expert methodological, operational and IT systems support. The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system has been developed for use within the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC).  It provides authorised researchers with regulated, secure access to anonymised information extracted from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust electronic clinical records system.

If you are planning a new study, as part of the sponsorship review, the R&D Facilitator will discuss with you the potential to have your study listed on this page and how this is declared in your application to the HRA and REC.

Newly opened studies recruiting at SLaM are added to the Take Part in Research monthly. If you have already ensured your study is eligible but it isn’t live, then it will likely be added as part of the next update – please check the page again in a few weeks’ time. If your study is currently open but not listed on the website, it is most likely because it is not eligible. The main reasons for this could be:

• This page only lists studies which are recruiting South London and Maudsley NHS service users, their parents or carers. It is not intended to promote studies recruiting healthy volunteers or staff participants.
• The studies listed here are designed with a recruitment method including advertising on a website and use of posters for self-referrals. If your study isn’t appearing, it may be because item A28 of the IRAS form, which states that the study will be advertised on websites, has not been ticked.
• PI has not responded to email asking for approval for the study to be displayed on the website.

If you would like to amend your project so it is eligible for inclusion, please contact the R&D Governance team at slam-ioppn.research@kcl.ac.uk. A formal amendment will be required if you are updating your recruitment strategy and developing a new poster or website text.

The details on the Take Part in Research page, including title and end dates, are populated from the data on our local portfolio management system called EDGE. If any details need to be updated on the Take Part in Research page, they will have to be updated on EDGE first. Please note that the details on EDGE and therefore the Take Part in Research page must be consistent with the details included in your REC/HRA approved application. If you need to discuss updates to EDGE please contact the local EDGE team at slam.edge@kcl.ac.uk.
