Our research sets the standard for new ideas and innovations in mental healthcare.
Our aim is to put research at the core of everything we do, so we can continually improve our clinical care.
We are doing this by giving our service users the opportunity to take part in research and our staff opportunities to develop and deliever studies. Through research we will create new treatments and improved services.
We work closely with our world leading partners to deliver ground breaking mental health research. Together we work to improve population health and wellbeing on an international scale.
Our research partners set the standard in terms of new ideas and innovations that continue to make significant improvements to both our understanding and treatment of mental health and the quality of life for those impacted.

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Policy Research Unit in Mental Health (MHPRU) was established at UCL and King's College London in 2017, and works closely with clinicians and service users at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. The PRU conducts rapid research to inform mental health policy at DHSC, NHS England, OHID and other government and arms-length bodies. It helps policymakers make timely nationwide plans for mental health services based on expert views and evidence.
