Initial and psychiatric assessments. We also provide Psychoeducation and pharmacological management as necessary. We have also provided Therapeutic assessments, brief CBT informed approaches, Brief Solution Focus Therapy, DBT informed intervention and behavioural work with mindfulness. We have had changes in staffing and so are awaiting further (formal) training to offer some of those interventions mentioned.
We see any young person who has presented to A&E with any identified mental health difficulties. We receive referrals from A&E (Adult & Paediatric ED) & the Paediatric ward (for those who have been admitted overnight). We work towards a 90 minute target to see following a referral being made and accepted. There is a backup emergency rota within Lewisham CAMHS to cover annual or sick leave.
We will also offer 7 day follow up for any Lewisham residents presenting to (any) A&E, especially if they are not known to any team and handover if on-going work is required. We can see young people for up to 4 sessions of brief work, especially if discharge is possible after that. We work closely with the paediatric staff and adult liaison service.
