Kate Lillywhite appointed as Director of Strategy and Transformation
Kate Lillywhite has been appointed as Director of Strategy and Transformation at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
Kate joined the Trust as Chief of Staff in 2020 and was appointed to the Trust Board as Interim Director of Strategy and Transformation in 2022. She has responsibility for strategy development and transformation, working closely with the Board of Directors, as well as strategic partnerships and service equalities.

The whole Board and I look forward to continuing to work with Kate to realise our vision to provide outstanding care and improve the lives of the people we serve.

The health service is under unprecedented pressure. In response, we need to explore new ideas and ways of delivering our services to meet demand and make lasting improvements to people’s lives. So many of our staff are already making such a vital and valued contribution to delivering our strategy and I am excited to continue to work with the amazing team of people across the Trust to make a lasting difference to the quality and equity of care we deliver.
Prior to joining the Trust, Kate was Programme Director for the King’s Health Partners Mind and Body Programme and the Institute of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Obesity. She joined the NHS from the Civil Service where she worked in a number of national roles including Provider Efficiency and Policy, Public Health, and on the 2012 Health and Social Care Act. Kate was also Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Health leading on Ministerial priorities including social care and dementia. Kate is currently studying for an MBA at Henley Business School.
With a background in policy, strategy and programme management, Kate brings strategic experience and expertise in the delivery of cross-organisational programmes to the Trust.
