Professor David Taylor first pharmacist to be awarded RCPysch Honorary Fellowship
Professor David Taylor, Director of Pharmacy and Pathology at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych).
Professor Taylor is the first pharmacist ever to receive a fellowship from the college.
Professor Taylor said:
"I was very surprised to receive notification of this award.
“Of course, it is a great and unusual honour to be recognised in this way and I am absolutely delighted. I am also humbled by the generosity of those who nominated me for this honorary fellowship and endlessly grateful to all the people that I work with who have enabled me to contribute to the field of mental health to the extent that I have been recognised by this award."
Professor Taylor is head of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Clinical Academic Group within King's Health Partners and has been lead author and editor of the Maudsley Prescribing Guidelines in Psychiatry since 1994.
The Royal College of Psychiatrists elects up to five Honorary Fellows each year and there can't be more than 150 Honorary Fellows in total at any time.
