South London Mental Health and Community Partnership

The next SLP Partnership Committees meeting: Wednesday 27 September, 9am-9.45am. Please follow the link to join in Common Part A.

South London Mental Health and Community Partnership (SLP) is an exciting collaboration of three South London mental health trusts. Our purpose is to enhance patient care via improved ways of working that incorporate clinical leadership and innovation, greater patient and carer involvement and the continued development of a highly skilled and compassionate workforce. SLP is providing enhanced career opportunities, supporting our staff to build on their existing skills and to have thriving and fulfilling careers in mental health in south London.

We work alongside colleagues from three trusts, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust. Working in this way we have improved the quality of the mental health services across South London. We endeavour to make the best use of the resources available whilst providing a better experience of care for patients and a more rewarding career experience for our staff.

By working this way, and at scale across the population of South London, we bring together an exceptional standard of clinical expertise and a greater understanding of peoples experience of care. We apply this knowledge for the benefit of patients, carers and their families, with these benefits extending out into the community to reduce stigma, increase early intervention and improve the overall mental health of the people of South London.

SLP is transforming outcomes for people with specialist and sometimes complex mental health conditions. We are transforming the way we work and how we care for patients by implementing consistent, best practice clinical pathways; and we commission the right services from NHS and independent sector providers to meet the needs of our diverse local population.

We are committed to service user involvement and the coproduction of services. We aim to embed better understanding of the lived experiences of patients, carers, staff, and clinicians in all our processes. By bringing together our clinicians, operational and corporate services teams; local, regional, and national partners; and patients to co-design evidence-based approaches that deliver better care, closer to home for our communities. We can maximise value for the NHS, enabling reinvestment in enhanced and new specialist local and South London-wide services.

Major specialist areas of work where the three Trusts collaborate include:

  • Forensic (Adult Secure) Provider Collaborative
  • CAMHS (Tier 4) Provider Collaborative
  • Adult Eating Disorders Provider Collaborative
  • Nursing Development Programme
  • Complex Care Programme
  • Acute Care projects including NHS111
  • Corporate Services Programme

Review of SIM in south London mental health trusts

The Serenity Integrated Mentoring (SIM) model was a model of care aimed at supporting a small group of people with complex mental health needs. It was decommissioned by the South London Partnership (SLP) in March 2021.

There is no recommissioning of SIM in any form in south London. NHS England is drafting a national response to concerns around the SIM model and it will be available to read on this webpage when published.
